Terrified of speaking in front of a crowd? Good at it but know you could be better? Preparing to present your ideas in a high-stakes situation?

Join me on Saturday, Nov 17th for an interactive public speaking workshop in NYC! There's never been a better time to take your presentation skills to the next level.

Topics will include:

  • Being heard: Vocal techniques that command attention, maximize understanding and establish expertise.
  • Owning the room: The biomechanical qualities of confidence.
  • Connecting with the audience: It isn’t about you. It’s about them.
  • Making it memorable: Structuring your information and using engaging language.
  • Authenticity: Leveraging your own experience and excitement about a topic.
  • Speaking with authority: Tactics for demonstrating expertise and showing leadership.
  • Taking off & landing: Effective ways to start and finish.

This is an interactive event. Class size is limited so that all participants have an opportunity for customized feedback and guidance.

This workshop will be led by Melissa Collom, a professional opera singer who has performed on many of the United States’ most celebrated stages. Opera News has called her an “expert raconteur” and the New York Times has praised her “appealing amber mezzo.” Her work as a presentation coach combines performance training with cognitive science to help speakers unlock the unique power of their own voices. Melissa has taught public speaking for a broad range of organizations including the Python Software Foundation, the Write/Speak/Code conference for women in tech, Village Zendo and Pivotal Labs. Her political engagement work ranges from the President's staff at the national headquarters of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, to the political satire ensemble Billionaires for Bush which has been featured on the Rachel Maddow Show and the Daily Show. She is a national trainer for the New Leaders Council.
